GRAMMY NIGHT!!

Excellent read about Michigan artists in the Detroit Free Press cool to think 30 nominations have came from this great state... Of course, Eminem is the headliner with 10... Here are my thoughts on the top categories.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR

Arcade Fire , "The Suburbs"
Eminem, "Recovery"
Lady Antebellum, "Need You Now"
Lady Gaga, "The Fame Monster"
Katy Perry, "Teenage Dream"
Winner: Sadly, this isnt the award for the best breasts in music, or Katy Perry would win. Also, this isnt for best meat dress, or lady gaga would clearly win. Eminem walks away with this award, hands down... Caps an amazing run and now we all wait to see what happens with his next album...

RECORD OF THE YEAR

B.o.B with Bruno Mars, "Nothin' On You"
Cee Lo Green, "(Expletive) You"
Eminem with Rihanna, "Love the Way You Lie"
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, "Empire State of Mind"
Lady Antebellum, "Need You Now"
Winner: Glad they picked the worst damn B.o.B. song to put on this list... Also, Em's "Not Afraid" should have been up here and the Jay-Z song should have been scratched for Kanye's "Power" but anyways... Lady Antebellum, I hope you get shut out here... Gotta go with Em and Ri Ri!!

SONG OF THE YEAR (songwriting award)

"Beg Steal or Borrow" (performed by Ray LaMontagne)
"(Expletive) You" (Cee Lo Green)
" The House That Built Me" (Miranda Lambert)
"Love the Way You Lie" (Eminem with Rihanna)
"Need You Now" (Lady Antebellum)
Winner: Now, this is where I get confused... There is this award and "Record of the year" which is supposed to be song of the year? Well, I am going to assume this is for songwriting, not the overall record... SO, with that being said, Cee lo with "Fuck You" has to win... Well, just because the song is so damn good and it isnt going to get Record of the Year so I want it to win here...

BEST NEW ARTIST

Justin Bieber
Drake
Florence and the Machine
Mumford & Sons
Esperanza Spalding
Winner: Justin Bieber, how the hell can he not?! Seriously, how many people know who Esperanza Spalding is without google?! Drake is the only thing that has a shot to take Biebs down... if he does it will be about the only thing that Beiber hasnt won lately, I feel like this kid is taking over the world?! Wait, he is?!

ROCK ALBUM

Jeff Beck , "Emotion & Commotion"
Muse, "The Resistance"
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, "Mojo"
Pearl Jam, "Backspacer"
Neil Young, "Le Noise"
Winner: Who the hell cares!?! These albums were all trash and they should not be in a category considered "Rock". Embarrassment.

ALTERNATIVE ALBUM

Arcade Fire , "The Suburbs"
Band of Horses, "Infinite Arms"
The Black Keys, "Brothers"
Broken Bells, "Broken Bells"
Vampire Weekend, "Contra"
Winner: This is a toss up between Broken Bells and The Black Keys... With how popular The Black Keys have gotten over the past year, I think this is going to be their award... I mean their beat is in the new Cadillac Commercials!

RAP ALBUM

B.o.B , "Adventures of Bobby Ray"
Drake, "Thank Me Later"
Eminem, "Recovery"
Jay-Z, "The Blueprint 3"
The Roots, "How I Got Over"
Winner: Eminem, of course. Now, I disagree with that in this case. B.o.B. had the best rap album in my opinion. Every song of the album had a different sound, a great story, and it was formed with B.o.B.'s excellent lyrical attack. Bobby Ray deserves this award...

COUNTRY ALBUM

Dierks Bentley , "Up On the Ridge"
Zac Brown Band, "You Get What You Give"
Jamey Johnson, "The Guitar Song"
Lady Antebellum, "Need You Now"
Miranda Lambert, "Revolution"
Winner: Lady Antebellum. I love Jamey Johnson and ZBB, but their new albums were so beyond sub par when you examine what they have put out before.
